Hi everyone,
I can’t believe we’re finally here.
After a year in the making, the Creator Mental Health Study is live.
Over 500 creators across North America shared their experiences about mental health, burnout, and the realities of building a life online. Together with Lupiani Insights&Strategies and sponsored by Opus, BeReal, Social Currant, Statusphere and The AAKOMA Project, this research gives us something we have never had before: data that validates what creators have been feeling for years.
Here’s what we found:
1 in 10 creators report suicidal thoughts nearly twice the U.S. adult rate
62% experience burnout
69% face financial insecurity
9 in 10 lack access to specialized mental health care
58% say their self-worth drops when content underperforms
43% feel isolated despite being constantly online
And perhaps most striking: the longer creators stay in the industry, the worse their mental health becomes.
This research confirms what so many of us have lived. Behind the highlight reels and headlines, there is a workforce in need of real infrastructure: care, community, and protections.
Creators are not just influencers. We are small business owners, entrepreneurs, and gig workers powering a $300 billion industry that is still learning how to take care of its people.
That is why we built Creators 4 Mental Health, to turn this data into action.
We are not just here to raise awareness. We are building the tools, resources, and advocacy this growing workforce needs to thrive long-term.
In the coming months, we will be hosting community events, continuing to grow our discounted sliding scale therapy service CreatorCare, and partnering with brands, platforms, and policy leaders to make mental well-being a core part of the creator economy’s foundation.
To everyone who took part in this research, thank you.
You shared your stories, your struggles, and your hope. You made this possible.
Let’s keep building a healthier future together.
With gratitude, Shira Lazar
